Violent floods inundated Ky Son District on June 25
The water levels of the Nam Mo, Nam Non and Lam rivers running through Ky Son and Tuong Duong Districts continue to rapidly rise.
According to the Northern Central Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, downpours struck the locality on the afternoon of July 1. The region will see more heavy rain in the next 24 hours.
The water level of the Ca River during the night of July 1 continued to sharply increase, closing on level the record 142.12 metres set in 2005.
Rain from Laos lashed Nghe An, while rapid rises in river water levels threaten a possible flash flood.
The centre requested local agencies and forces to join forces to prepare for flash floods in a bid to minimise damage.
People’s Commitee Chairman Bui Tram, of Ky Son District, which was devastated by a recent flash flood, told DTiNews that as of the evening of July 1, the water level in Nam Mo River section running through Muong Xen Township was close to the peak level of the June 25 flood.
The recent flash flood that hit Ky Son District caused an estimated VND200 billion (USD9.66 million) in damage.
