Dantri/DTiNews readers support boy with brain tumour

A seven-year-old boy battling a brain tumour has received more than VND 237.61 million million from Dantri/DTiNews readers, helping his family continue his treatment as his condition worsens.

The newspaper on August 25 presented the donation for the family of the boy Pham Viet Huy from Quang Ngai Province.

Huy's story was featured in the newspaper's charity section on July 27, detailing how his parents had stopped their own treatment to save money for his care. The article drew support from readers in Vietnam and abroad.

His mother thanked readers and donors, saying their support had enabled the family to continue Huy's treatment and given them renewed hope for his recovery.

Huy, born in 2019, has undergone prolonged chemotherapy for a brain tumour for more than six years and also suffers seizures caused by epilepsy.

According to his mother, the boy's condition had deteriorated over the past two months, with increasingly frequent seizures, weakness in his legs and problems with his eyes.

She said mild seizures could previously be managed at home, but they had recently become more severe, sometimes causing him to foam at the mouth, roll his eyes back and lose consciousness.

Huy has been rushed to hospital three times in the past two months.

The family's difficulties were compounded by Huy's grandparents falling ill. His grandfather was hospitalised after a workplace accident, while his grandmother was treated for diabetes.
