A family in Danang facing severe financial hardship has received nearly VND 197 million (about USD 7,550) in community donations, providing much-needed support for medical treatment, debt repayments and daily living expenses.
On August 28, representatives of Dantri Newspaper, together with officials from An Thang Ward, presented a symbolic cheque worth VND 157.2 million (about USD 6,030) to the family of Vo Thi Thuy.
The amount was donated by readers through the newspaper during July and August.

In addition to the funds transferred through Dantri, Thuy's family received nearly VND 40 million (about USD 1,530) directly from readers into her personal bank account.
Thuy, 37, has been caring for her husband, Ha Huy Hoang, since he was left bedridden following a workplace accident. The couple have three young sons, including a second child diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and intellectual impairment.
Facing mounting financial pressures and unable to afford ongoing hospital expenses, Thuy was forced to bring her husband home and care for him herself.

She said part of the donated money would be placed in savings to cover future medical treatment for her husband and educational costs for the children. The remainder would be used to repay debts and meet the family's daily expenses.
Speaking on behalf of her family, Thuy expressed gratitude to the newspaper's readers for their generosity and support during a difficult period.
She said the donations represented more than financial assistance, providing emotional encouragement and renewed strength for the family to overcome its challenges.
Dang Thi Nhu Quynh, chairwoman of the Women's Union in An Thang Ward, said local authorities were delighted that the family had received such widespread support from the community.
She said the collective effort had helped ease the burden on one of the ward's most vulnerable households.
Officials in An Thang Ward also expressed hope that Dantri Newspaper would continue working with local authorities to connect donors with other families facing hardship in the area.
