Hours of heavy rain flooded several streets in the former Vinh City area by around half a metre.
At GreenView apartment building in Thanh Vinh Ward, floodwater rushed into the basement after waves created by three passing vehicles knocked down a metal flood barrier at the entrance.

Residents had installed the barrier earlier in the day to prevent water from Hoang Nghia Luong Street from entering the basement.
Most residents had moved their cars to higher ground before the flooding, but many motorbikes remained in the basement.
By 3 pm, rain had eased but the street outside remained flooded and water in the basement was still deep.
Another apartment building on Nguyen Tai Street in Truong Vinh Ward was also flooded after hours of heavy rain.
Water entered its ground-floor parking area, which is about 60 centimetres above street level, rising to nearly one metre and almost submerging parked motorbikes.

Floodwater also entered rooms on the ground floor.
Rain began to ease from around 3 pm, with water receding on many roads in the former Vinh City area.
