The Hoang Long River at Ben De peaked at 4.42 metres, 0.42 metres above the highest level-three warning threshold, and is forecast to recede slowly while remaining above the threshold.
The Day River continued to rise, reaching 4.42 metres at Phu Ly, 0.42 metres above the level-three threshold, and 3.04 metres at Ninh Binh, 0.04 metres above the same threshold early on September 17.
Its peak is forecast for later in the day, with flood risks at levels two to three and warnings of inundation in low-lying and riverside areas.
Several tourist sites have adjusted operations in response to the flooding, the provincial Tourism Department said.
Trang An Ecotourism Complex suspended tours from September 17 until further notice, while Thung Nham Ecotourism Area has closed But Cave, Mermaid Cave and Vai Gioi Cave since September 16.
The Hang Chua-Hang Ghe-Hang But route has been closed since September 15 due to flooding, while boat trips on Ky Lan Lake at Hoa Lu Ancient Town have also been suspended.
Cuc Phuong National Park has halted overnight stays in the forest, while Van Long Nature Reserve and Sun World Ha Nam suspended operations from September 17 until further notice.
At Tam Coc-Bich Dong, boat tours have been shortened to run from the wharf through Hang Ca to the entrance of Hang Hai before returning, with Hang Ba excluded. Electric vehicle services to Bich Dong have also been suspended.
The Tourism Department urged tourist sites and travel operators to closely monitor weather and flood conditions, particularly for boat trips, caves, riverside and low-lying areas and outdoor activities.
Visitors should not be taken into areas at risk of deep flooding, strong currents or landslides, or to routes that have been closed.
Tourists planning trips to Ninh Binh were advised to check with attractions, travel agencies or accommodation providers before departure.
Tourism activities will gradually resume after water levels recede and affected sites are inspected and deemed safe.
