The announcement was made on September 15, with the operator citing potential risks to people and property arising from circumstances beyond its control.
Nguyen Van Huan, a representative of the Rong May Glass Bridge tourist site, said construction work being carried out near the attraction had affected the surrounding landscape and raised concerns about possible landslides and other safety hazards.
To protect employees, residents, visitors and assets associated with the project, the site plans to halt operations from October 1 until safety issues have been resolved, he said.
In a document sent to the Lai Chau People's Committee, provincial departments and other relevant parties, the operator stated that a neighbouring project had recently begun construction on works adjacent to the tourist site's boundaries.
The company said it had raised concerns regarding the potential impact of those activities on the safety of people and existing infrastructure within the tourism complex.
Since opening in 2019, the Rong May Glass Bridge has become one of Lai Chau's best-known attractions, welcoming around 300,000 visitors annually and contributing approximately VND 20 billion (USD 770,000) in budget revenue each year.
Travel companies described the site as a key destination in Vietnam's northwestern tourism circuit. Located near Sapa, it has become a regular stop for visitors exploring the region.
Tour operators said a suspension of operations from October 1 would require them to adjust itineraries and identify alternative attractions capable of replacing one of the area's most popular tourism landmarks.
