FIFA President Gianni Infantino visited the 60,000-seat PVF Stadium under construction in Hung Yen Province on August 27.
According to the FIFA President, Vietnam's investment in large-scale sports infrastructure reflects growing interest in football and opens up new opportunities for the sport's development.
The visit formed part of the FIFA President's working trip to Vietnam. He was accompanied by FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom, along with representatives from FIFA, the Asean Football Federation (AFF) and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
During the tour, Gianni Infantino and his delegation appeared impressed by the scale of the stadium. The FIFA President spent time inspecting construction sections and learning about the design and progress of the project.
"I walked in here and could already see a real football stadium, even though it is not yet finished," Gianni Infantino said.
A representative of the project management board briefed Gianni Infantino on the scale, construction progress and distinctive features of the 60,000-seat stadium. He also outlined the design, the steel dome roof system and the construction solutions being applied at the site.
The project broke ground on October 19, 2025. After more than 10 months of construction, several key sections of the stadium have begun to take shape, particularly the stands and the steel dome structure.
Gianni Infantino also took time to meet and speak with the engineers and workers directly involved in building the stadium.
Before concluding the visit, the FIFA President posed for a photo with the project team.
The gradual emergence of the 60,000-seat PVF Stadium is expected to add a new landmark to Vietnam's football infrastructure and raise the prospect of hosting major matches and sporting events in the future.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, director of Hanoi Police Department, told Gianni Infantino he hoped that once completed and put into operation, the 60,000-seat stadium would be able to welcome international national teams and clubs for matches, training and exchanges.
Responding to the suggestion, the FIFA President smiled in agreement and said: "Get in touch with me."
Immediately afterwards, Gianni Infantino and his delegation moved on to the PVF Youth Football Training Centre, where they attended a meeting and exchange with the coaching staff and young players training there.
Gianni Infantino struck a friendly and open tone in his exchanges with the young players. He cheerfully shook hands, exchanged high-fives and chatted with them, creating a warm atmosphere during the meeting.
Coach Alexandre Polking was also present at the exchange and personally greeted Gianni Infantino with a handshake.
The FIFA President also congratulated the Vietnam national team on winning the Southeast Asian title, and congratulated Cong An Ha Noi FC on qualifying for the AFC Champions League group stage.
"Vietnam is a wonderful country. I believe that in the future, Vietnam can become a football powerhouse, not only in Southeast Asia or Asia, but in the world. That is the ambition we should all be striving for," the FIFA President said.
