The event will feature an opening ceremony, performances showcasing the cultures of northwestern ethnic communities, exhibitions of traditional handicrafts and displays of local agricultural and One Commune One Product (OCOP) products.

Sapa also plans to hold an investment, trade and tourism promotion programme in November involving Sapa and Lao Cai, alongside Tam Dao in Phu Tho Province, to strengthen regional tourism cooperation.

Christmas celebrations will include festive decorations, artistic performances and winter-themed activities.

A New Year's Eve countdown event is scheduled to begin at 8 pm on December 31 at San Quan Square, featuring live music, performances and a countdown to 2027.

On January 1, Sapa will welcome its first international visitors of the new year at the Ethnic Culture Park, promoting the destination's cultural identity and hospitality.

The events are intended to showcase traditional culture, promote local products and encourage tourism partnerships.

Sapa welcomed approximately 4.5 million visitors in 2025, generating around VND 19 trillion in tourism revenue.

In the first nine months of 2026, the destination received an estimated 3.7 million visitors, reaching 79.2 per cent of its annual target.

Local authorities aim to attract more than five million visitors and generate approximately VND 23 trillion in tourism revenue in 2026.

Recognised in 2017, the Sapa National Tourism Area covers around 684 square kilometres, encompassing the former Sapa Town.

Following administrative restructuring on July 1, 2025, the former town was reorganised into a ward and several communes, with Sapa Ward forming the urban centre of the national tourism area.
