On November 2, a reporter from Dantri Newspaper visited Tam Phuc General Hospital and presented a symbolic cheque for VND 238,548,606 donated by readers to support Le Thi Ngoc Giau, who lives in Bac Binh Commune, Lam Dong Province.
The full amount has been transferred by the newspaper to an account belonging to Giau's father, Le Van Sang, to help pay for her treatment.
The trade union of Binh Thuan Lottery Company also donated an additional VND 30 million to help the family through its financial difficulties.

Giau was deeply moved by the support from Dantri readers and other donors. She said the contributions provided not only much-needed financial assistance but also encouragement and hope for the future.
She thanked everyone who had supported her and pledged to continue fighting her illness, work hard at school and pursue her dream of attending university.
Luong Thi My Tram, a doctor at Tam Phuc General Hospital, said Giau's kidney transplant was expected to cost at least VND 500 million.
Initial screening found that her mother's kidney was a suitable match for donation. The hospital is therefore appealing for further contributions to help the family raise enough money for the operation, which could give the teenager a chance at a healthier life.

Giau has end-stage chronic kidney disease, along with heart failure, high blood pressure and several other complex medical conditions. She must undergo dialysis twice a week to stay alive.
The cost of treatment and travel has placed a heavy burden on the family, which has already borrowed around VND 100 million. Their limited income is no longer enough to cover the expenses.
Her father has a disability that limits his ability to work, while her mother runs a small business with an unstable income. Despite the hardships, Giau has continued attending school and hopes to study psychology at university so she can secure a stable job and support her parents.
