On November 3, a delegation from Danang led by Ngo Xuan Thang, deputy secretary of the municipal Party Committee, continued a series of engagement activities in Sydney, focusing on wireless communications technology, the low-altitude economy and the proposed air link.

At the University of Sydney, the delegation met Professor Yonghui Li, director of the Wireless Engineering Laboratory, to discuss long-range Wi-Fi technology, smart sensors and artificial intelligence applications.

Danang is interested in applying these technologies on the Son Tra Peninsula and in mountainous communes in the city's western areas to support tourism, forest protection, search and rescue operations, and disaster response.

The two sides also discussed Wi-Fi sensing, a technology that can detect movement and unusual activity. Potential applications include elderly care and the development of the so-called silver economy, which serves older consumers.

The same day, the delegation led by Thang met executives of Western Sydney International Airport to discuss the possibility of launching direct flights between the airport and Danang.

The airport began handling passenger services on October 25, 2026, with an initial designed capacity of around 10 million passengers a year.

Danang welcomed 376,981 Australian visitors in the first nine months of 2026, up 43.86 per cent year on year. The figure provides a basis for both sides to assess market potential, two-way passenger demand and possible operating plans for the route.
