The donation came from Dantri readers and had already been fully transferred to Hanh’s bank account to cover her treatment.

Overwhelmed by the support, Hanh said: “My family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dantri, its readers and benefactors for their kindness and help. Your invaluable generosity has given us tremendous encouragement and renewed hope as we navigate this difficult time.”
Her mother, Le Thi Lac, born in 1955, fought back tears as she recalled: “When doctors told us that treatment would cost VND 30-40 million a month, Hanh said she would stop treatment and go home, making the most of whatever time she had left.
“Thankfully, Hanoi Oncology Hospital, Dantri readers and benefactors have joined hands to help, allowing my daughter to continue her treatment.”

Lac’s husband died in 2013. Now in her seventies, she struggles to make ends meet by collecting scrap materials and taking odd jobs while caring for her three daughters, all of whom have serious illnesses.
In early 2025, as her pain grew increasingly severe, Hanh sought medical attention and was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer. Lac had to borrow money from various sources to pay for her daughter’s surgery and treatment.
Between treatment sessions, whenever Hanh was able to return home, Lac would take the opportunity to walk around the neighbourhood collecting scrap materials to earn extra money for daily expenses. But mounting medical bills pushed the family into financial desperation, leaving them unsure where to turn for help.

Seeing Hanh’s circumstances, the hospital proactively contacted Dantri to appeal to the community for donations to help fund her treatment.
