Dantri/DTiNews reporters and representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Tung Ba Commune recently visited Truong Thi Roan’s family in Hong Minh Village to present the donations.

Dantri readers contributed VND 161.99 million, while Thien Tam Fund donated another VND 20 million, bringing the total to more than VND 181 million.
Luong Duc Hung, chairman of the commune’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, said Roan had deposited VND 130 million in a savings account to cover future medical and medication costs.
Part of the donations was used to buy essential household items, including a refrigerator, fan, water tank and rice cooker, while the remainder will help cover daily living expenses.
Local officials also helped install and arrange the equipment to make the home safer and more convenient for the elderly woman, her disabled daughters and young granddaughter.
The financial support has also enabled Roan to follow her prescribed treatment. Her health has improved and she now returns to hospital each month for check-ups and medication.
Roan has three children, all of whom have been blind since childhood. Her eldest son is married and lives separately, but his own financial difficulties prevent him from regularly supporting his mother and sisters.
Her two daughters, Truong Thi Nam, born in 1975, and Truong Thi Toen, born in 1989, live with her. Both are unable to work because of their visual impairment.
At 77, Roan remains the main carer for her two daughters and three-year-old granddaughter.
The family has no income from employment. Each daughter receives a monthly allowance of VND 750,000, which has to cover food, medicine, daily expenses and care for the child.
Roan also suffers from several illnesses. In 2025, she was repeatedly treated at Ha Giang General Hospital for pneumonia associated with pulmonary fibrosis and chronic anaemia.
After receiving the donations, Roan thanked Dantri/DTiNews readers and benefactors for helping her family through its difficulties.
