Trang and her husband receive their new house on January 11.
Doan Thi Trang, 39, of Tra Vinh's Cang Long District, moved into their new house on January 11. The 60-square-metre house was built with over VND100 million in financial support from Dantri's Charity Fund.
Speaking at the house-transferring ceremony, Dantri representative Huynh Nhat Hai thanked local authorities for helping carry out the project on time. He also sent his best wishes to Trang's family for the new year, hoping they would enjoy a good Tet Lunar New Year holiday in their new, better house.
At the event, Tran Thi Tuyet Suong, chairman of An Truong Commune People's Committee, highly appreciated Dantri's charity programme for its valuable support of disadvantaged people nationwide.
"We're a poor locality, and there are still some 90 deteriorating houses that need to be replaced," Suong said. "We hope to receive more support from Dantri and kind donors to help our residents."
The official said this is the biggest house built by a charity fund in the commune.
Trang's husband, Duong Hoai Linh, 41, also expressed his sincere thanks to Dantri and kind donors for helping them buy a new house. He said that they would work harder to escape poverty.
The family used to live in a small tent built from leaves.
Trang and Linh are slow and earn modest income from odd jobs. They have two small sons, and her second child has suffered from eye problems but has yet to receive treatment due to financial shortages.
