Dantri recently presented VND 197.7 million to Thai Van Son, 55, in Vinh Long Province after readers responded to an appeal published in May.
The donations have enabled Son to admit his son, Thai Hoang Minh Khoi, for chemotherapy while easing part of the family's financial burden.

Son said he had used about VND 50 million to pay for chemotherapy and settle some debts, with the remaining money set aside for his son's long-term treatment and care.
"The support has given my son a chance to continue fighting the disease," Son said, thanking Dantri readers for their generosity.
Khoi was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour in April 2025 and has since undergone 30 radiotherapy sessions and multiple rounds of chemotherapy.
To cover medical expenses, Son sold part of his farmland and borrowed heavily from relatives before seeking help through Dantri's Charity Programme.
