On October 1, local authorities in Bao Lam 2 Commune and the Bao Loc Forest Protection Unit handed over a crested serpent eagle (Spilornis cheela) weighing about 2kg to Bu Gia Map National Park for care, rescue and conservation in accordance with regulations.

Earlier, Tran Trong Dien, born in 1986, discovered the bird while working in his garden and contacted local police to hand it over.
After examining the animal, authorities identified it as a crested serpent eagle, listed under Group IB, which covers endangered, precious and rare forest animals.
The voluntary handover of wildlife by local residents contributes to protecting biodiversity and endangered species.
The Bao Loc Forest Protection Unit urged residents not to illegally hunt, trade, transport or keep wild animals in captivity. Anyone who finds wildlife is advised to promptly notify the relevant authorities so the animals can be received and handled in accordance with regulations.
