Le Van Luong, director of the Quang Ngai Maritime Port Authority, confirmed on October 22 that the Aquacharm had been detained under a court order following a compensation claim by the affected party.

The vessel must remain at its designated anchorage, maintain sufficient crew and comply with maritime safety and environmental regulations.
Luong said the detention was intended to secure compensation in a civil maritime dispute. The ship could be released once the compensation issue is resolved and the court lifts the order.
The 292-metre Aquacharm, with a deadweight tonnage of 182,309 tonnes and 22 crew members, was carrying nearly 171,000 tonnes of ore from Australia to Hoa Phat Dung Quat's dedicated port.
The collision occurred at around 4.45 pm on October 18 as the vessel approached Berth No. 10 under pilot guidance.
The impact tore a five-metre section of the ship's bow and damaged the berth. The captain and pilot subsequently managed to dock the vessel.
