On June 30, a Dantri/Dtinews reporter, together with the Lam Dong Sponsorship Association, presented a symbolic cheque worth VND 275 million (approximately USD 10,600) to the family of Nguyen Van Hung in Lam Vien-Dalat Ward.
The funds were donated by Dantri readers through the newspaper's Charity Programme and have been transferred in full to Hung's bank account.

Hung has raised his two children alone since divorcing his wife in 2019, relying on income from casual jobs.
In November 2025, his younger son, Nguyen Quoc Uy, developed a persistent fever that did not respond to medication. After taking him to hospital, Hung learned that the boy had acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, a form of blood cancer, as well as hepatitis.
To pay for his son's treatment, Hung borrowed heavily from relatives and friends. Within less than six months, the family's debts had reached hundreds of millions of dong.

Hung said that after Dantri published the family's appeal, government agencies, organisations and benefactors came forward with financial support. Teachers at Kindergarten 9 in Lam Vien-Dalat Ward where his son is studying, together with parents of pupils attending the school, also raised nearly VND 100 million (approximately USD 3,800).
The family has now received total donations of more than VND 375 million (approximately USD 14,400).
Hung said the financial support had enabled the family to repay part of its debts while ensuring his son could continue receiving treatment.
"Thanks to the generosity of the community, we have been able to continue our son's treatment. His health is improving, and doctors are continuing to monitor his condition and follow his treatment plan. We are sincerely grateful to Dantri, the Lam Dong Sponsorship Association, the teachers and parents of Kindergarten 9, and all the benefactors who have stood by our family during this difficult time," Hung said.

Nguyen Van Luc, chairman of the Lam Dong Sponsorship Association, said the donations would allow the family to fund Uy's fourth round of leukaemia treatment and prepare for the next stage of therapy, scheduled to begin in early July.
"This support is extremely valuable for the family as they continue their son's treatment," Luc said.
