Vietnam Railways is rolling out several fare-promotion programmes in September 2026, including discounts of up to 40 per cent on sleeper berths on selected routes. Passengers buying return tickets or booking in advance can also receive additional discounts.

Sleeper fares cut by up to 40 per cent
From September 7 to 10, Vietnam Railways will offer discounted fares on selected trains operating through the central region.
On trains SE2, SE4, SE6, SE8, SE10 and SE20, soft-seat fares will be reduced by 15 per cent and sleeper fares by 30 per cent on routes departing from stations between Danang and Cho Sy and arriving at stations between Hue and Hanoi.
On trains SE1, SE2, SE3, SE4, SE21 and SE22 operating between Danang and Dieu Tri in both directions, soft-seat fares will be cut by 15 per cent and sleeper fares by 40 per cent.
After the discounts, sleeper fares from Danang to Hanoi start at VND 800,000 (USD 30.7) per ticket, while fares from Hue to Vinh start at VND 376,000 (USD 14.4) and those from Vinh to Hanoi at VND 375,000 (USD 14.4).
Soft-seat fares from Danang to Dong Hoi start at VND 181,000 (USD 6.9).
Actual fares may vary depending on the train, type of seat or berth and when the ticket is purchased.
Return tickets offer discounts of up to 30 per cent
In addition to direct fare reductions on selected services, Vietnam Railways is offering discounts to passengers buying return tickets.
The programme will run in two periods: from September 7 to November 19, 2026, and from November 25 to December 30, 2026.
For individual passengers, return tickets will be discounted by 20 per cent when purchased one to 19 days before departure. The discount rises to 30 per cent for tickets bought at least 20 days in advance.
Groups travelling together can receive an additional 20 to 30 per cent discount on return fares after the existing group-travel discount policy has been applied.
Tickets can be purchased at railway stations, authorised ticket agents or through the railway sector's official online booking system.
