According to the Embassy of Vietnam in Angola, 40-year-old Tran Thi Thu Huong and 47-year-old Nguyen Trong Duc were brother and sister-in-law. They were killed in their sleep when the burglars broke into their apartment in Lubango Province at 2 am on May 20.

The embassy sent their condolences to the family and called for help from the community to help bring their bodies home.

Huong and Duc were both from Can Loc District, Ha Tinh Province.

Dao Thi Thanh, Huong's mother, said, "Huong went to Angola last August. At home, her husband died after a traffic accident six months later. She hadn't been able to save up money yet so she didn't return for his funeral. I can't believe that she was killed. How will their children survive?"

After Huong's husband died, her mother-in-law's health deteriorated greatly so the children were sent to their maternal grandparents' house. However, they now don't have enough money to bring Huong and Duc home.

"I hope the community will help us so that the children can see their mother the last time," Thanh said.

The Embassy of Vietnam in Angola is working with the police to investigate the case.

From 2015 to 2017, three Vietnamese from Ha Tinh were also robbed and killed by burglars while working in Angola.
