Vietnam reported an additional 102,046 Covid-19 infections on Sunday, raising the national tally to over 9.81 million, according to the Ministry of Health.

Vietnam reported an additional 102,046 Covid-19 infections on Sunday, raising the national tally to over 9.81 million, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 61 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (6,304), Yen Bai (2,604), Nghe An (2,599), Quang Ninh (2,522), and Bac Giang (2,503). Two northern provinces of Thai Binh and Bac Giang today added 40,000 and 11,316 more cases respectively to the national tally.

As of Sunday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 9,818,328. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,496,243), HCM City (596,403), Nghe An (400,607), Binh Duong (378,885), and Hai Duong (347,115).

On April 3, an additional 74,608 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 7,787,962 .

On Sunday evening, a further 37 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,600. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Kien Giang (4), Bạc Lieu (3), Quang Ninh (3), Ben Tre (2), Binh Duong (2), and Hanoi (2).

Vietnam on April 2 administered 64,201 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 206.52 million.
