The team was seen off at the airport by Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My, Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Andrea Corea and other officials.

Before leaving, the team donated medical equipment, medicines, food, tents and USD 15,000 to support earthquake recovery efforts.

Daniel Gasparri, a Venezuelan foreign ministry official, thanked Vietnam for its timely assistance despite the distance between the two countries

During the mission, the team recovered nearly 60 bodies, helped identify locations where more victims were believed trapped, and provided medical care, relief supplies and other assistance to local residents.

The team carried out operations in Playa Grande, La Guaira State, one of the areas worst affected by the earthquakes, where numerous hillside apartment buildings collapsed.

In recognition of its contribution, Venezuela awarded the team the First-Class Hero of Venezuela Medal, presented the Second-Class Hero of Venezuela Medal to all 124 members, and honoured the team's search dogs with the Meritorious Service Order.
