Ho Chi Minh City will begin construction on nine major infrastructure projects, including the Ring Road 4 Expressway, while inaugurating four completed developments as part of celebrations marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam's National Day.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony will take place in Hiep Binh Ward on the morning of August 29.
The four completed projects scheduled for inauguration include the renovation and upgrading of the Ho Chi Minh Museum at Nha Rong Wharf, the refurbishment of Marie Curie High School in Xuan Hoa Ward, the modernisation of Vo Truong Toan High School in Tan Thoi Hiep Ward and improvements to Tran Van Giau High School.
At least nine new projects in transport, technical infrastructure and housing will also break ground on the same day.
In the transport sector, the city will launch expansion works on National Highway 13 and National Highway 1. Both projects will be implemented under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model. Construction of the Ring Road 4 Expressway, one of the region's most important transport projects, will also officially begin.
In technical infrastructure, the city will commence the Binh Duong Water Environment Improvement Project and the construction of the AI Factory Data Centre at Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park.
Several housing developments are also scheduled to start construction, including the Le Thanh Tan Tao social housing project and urban redevelopment schemes in the Ma Lang and Cho Ga-Gao areas.
One notable change from earlier plans is the postponement of the Thu Thiem-Long Thanh Metro project. The project will not break ground during the National Day celebrations because preparatory work has not yet been completed.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction had proposed inaugurating five projects and launching 11 new developments during the September 2 holiday period, with the Thu Thiem-Long Thanh Metro line included among the planned projects.
City officials said the latest programme reflects ongoing efforts to accelerate investment in transport, urban infrastructure and housing, while supporting economic growth and improving connectivity across southern Vietnam.
