Authorities in Nghia Dong Commune, Nghe An Province, have released a large rat snake back into a natural forest after it was safely captured by a local resident.
Local officials said on August 29 that the snake had been handed over to authorities before being returned to a suitable natural habitat.
The incident occurred at around 7 pm on August 28 when Ha Van Dung, a resident of Khe Than Hamlet in Nghia Dong Commune, discovered a large snake slithering into his home.
After spotting the reptile, Dung managed to capture it safely. He then contacted local authorities and handed the animal over to Nghia Dong Commune Police and the Tan Ky Forest Protection Department for further handling.

Following an inspection, officials identified the animal as a rat snake. The specimen weighed 4.2 kilos and measured approximately three metres in length.
The snake was later transported to a natural forest area and released back into the wild.
Local authorities have advised residents to exercise caution when encountering wild animals, particularly large snakes entering residential areas.
Officials said people should keep a safe distance and avoid attempting to approach or handle wild animals unless they have the necessary skills and experience.
Residents are encouraged to notify local authorities, police or forest rangers so that trained personnel can respond appropriately and ensure the safety of both people and wildlife.
