Samsung's mobile phone manufacturing subsidiaries in Vietnam have achieved cumulative exports of USD 500 billion, marking a major milestone for the South Korean technology giant's operations in the country.

The figure was disclosed by Roh Tae Moon, chief executive of Samsung Electronics, during a meeting with Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on August 27.
According to Roh, Samsung's mobile phone manufacturing entities in Bac Ninh Province and Thai Nguyen Province reached cumulative export turnover of USD 500 billion by the end of June.
The milestone comes 17 years after Samsung began producing mobile phones in Vietnam in April 2009, transforming the country into one of the company's most important global manufacturing hubs.
Samsung's investment footprint in Vietnam has also continued to expand. By the end of 2025, the group's cumulative investment in the country had reached USD 24 billion.
Discussing recent business performance, Roh said the Galaxy Fold 8 smartphone, launched in early August, had attracted strong interest in global markets. Samsung expects to maintain double-digit growth through the remainder of the year.
Beyond manufacturing, the company said it plans to continue expanding investment in research and development activities in Vietnam, particularly in high-technology sectors, while increasing efforts to develop skilled human resources.
Samsung's research and development centre in Hanoi is strengthening co-operation with leading Vietnamese universities and allocating additional resources to technology capability building and workforce training.
The company is also working with the Ministry of Industry and Trade on programmes designed to help Vietnamese businesses improve their capabilities and increase participation in Samsung's global supply chain.
Samsung said it does not view Vietnam solely as a manufacturing base but increasingly as a strategic partner in research, development and advanced technology. The company plans to continue investing in research and development, talent training and initiatives aimed at improving the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung called on Samsung to maintain its long-term commitment to Vietnam and continue viewing the country as a strategic destination for investment, manufacturing and business operations.
PM Le Minh Hung urged the company to enhance the quality of its investment by increasing technology content and innovation. He encouraged Samsung not only to expand factories and production capacity but also to strengthen investment in research and development and innovation activities in Vietnam.
The prime minister also called for deeper co-operation with research institutes and universities, greater support for training engineers and highly skilled professionals, and increased technology transfer and management expertise sharing.
Vietnam hopes to attract not only foreign investment capital but also technology, knowledge, management capabilities and new drivers of economic growth, he said.
