Members of Saginaw Valley State University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and Clarence M. Rivette, of Global Perspective Consulting, 909 Washington in Bay City, will depart on an educational and cultural visit to Vietnam on Thursday, March 11.
“The visit will include major cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, and the remote mountain region of Sapa near the China and Laos border,” Rivette said.
The group will be accompanied by Global Perspective’s partner in Vietnam, Viet Nguyen of Viet Orient Tours. They will meet with Americans living and working in the country as well as a variety of citizens.
The SVSU-OLLI program was established in September 2001 and has more than 1,000 members from Saginaw, Bay, and Midland Counties, and from the Thumb and north of Bay County.
Originally known as the SVSU Institute for Learning in Retirement, the name was changed in 2005 after receiving a grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation. More than 120 schools in the nation are supported by the foundation. SVSU was the first school in the State of Michigan to receive this designation.
