By mid-Monday, the storm was offshoring the Philippines. It has been predicted to quickly develop into a typhoon and go through the Philippines and Taiwan. It then will impact the northeast of the East Sea, causing strong winds and rough seas.

Huong said that the storm is unlikely to ravage the Vietnamese mainland. But coastal areas from the southern central province of Ninh Thuan to the southernmost province of Ca Mau would see violent winds and waves of 1-3.5 metres on July 24-25.
This year, the East Sea would have 11-13 storms, including 5-7 that would hit Vietnam. Most of the storms would happen between August and October.
