Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has ordered to temporarily close all non-essential services nationwide from March 28 to April 15 to help Covid-19 prevention.

Under the prime minister’s instruction, only services offering necessities are allowed to be open during this time, while all other services, including entertainment and sports services, are banned.

He also required local authorities at all levels to suspend meetings and events, including religious ceremonies during the period.

The government leader added that it is necessary for people to try to remain as far away from other people in public as possible.

He also urged concerned ministries and localities across the country to tighten control over people who entered Vietnam from abroad from March 8, including those coming the country through border gates.

People who do not co-operate in quarantine will be strictly punished, and could face criminal prosecution.

The Vietnamese Fatherland Front and other agencies need to continue calling for public donations for the fight against Covid-19.

The PM noted that the Ministry of Health needs to have measures to protect doctors and should provide medical equipment for localities bordering Laos and Cambodia in Covid-19 prevention.

Localities have to increase their Covid-19 testing capacity.
