Huynh Quang Hung, chairman of Phu Quoc City’s People’s Committee, said that large-scale Covid-19 testing was being carried out in the locality, including Duong Dong Market, to find Covid-19 cases.
Local authorities have decided to establish mobile medical stations to help Covid-19 cases as well as other patients. The stations also support the Covid-19 testing on Phu Quoc Island.
Hung added that to date, around 35 percent of residents in Phu Quoc have been given their first Covid-19 vaccine jab. The city needs around 250,000-300,000 doses for the second shot.
Next week, the city will provide the second jab of Covid-19 vaccine for all local remaining people.
By September 20, Phu Quoc was among 10 districts and cities of Kien Giang to be allowed to loosen social distancing measures in line with Government Directive 19.
Earlier, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's proposal on a pilot plan to welcome international tourists with vaccine passports to Phu Quoc Island in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang for six months from October.
