Vietnam announced 17,428 more Covid-19 infections on Friday and 10,126 patients recovered from the diseases the same day, according to the Ministry of Health.
Of the newly-announced patients, 12,920 were reported in 41 localities nation-wide during the day, and 4,508 cases previously detected in Binh Duong but only added to the Ministry of Health's report on Friday.
As of Friday evening, 406,233 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April, with some southern localities recording high infections such as HCM City (199,483 cases), Binh Duong (94,745), Dong Nai (21,467), and Long An (19,949). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 410,366. The country now stands 63rd among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On August 27, an additional 10,126 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 198,614.
Also on Friday evening, a further 386 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 10,053. The deaths were reported in HCM City (287), Binh Duong (34), Phu Yen (30), Dong Nai (13), Khanh Hoa (10), Long An (7), Danang (2), Ben Tre (1), Soc Trang (1), and Thanh Hoa (1).
The country has so far conducted over 18.84 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 2.23 million people having received two doses.
