Human resources (HR) is the key factor contributing to the success of any organisations, so businesses and human resources managers should pay more attention to human management and recruitment, said former Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Van An.
The former Chairman emphasised this at a seminar on human resources strategies in the new context, jointly held by the EduViet Corporation, and the Chief People Officer Club (CPO Club) in Hanoi on November 11.
Participants in the workshop agreed that the quality of the workforce is still far from meeting businesses’ demand due to the inadequate training programmes of vocational training schools and centres. Only 30 to 40 percent of the recruited staffs have adequate qualifications while others need retraining.
They said the business community, HR managers, and HR management trainers should work closely together to work out the most effective ways to ensure the quality of the workforce.
Bui Tung Lam, the General Director of the Viet-Trung Coke and Mineral Resources Company, said although HR management in Vietnam has seen significant improvement, it is still poor compared to other countries in the region.
It is no easy task to recruit skilled workers as required, Lam said.
Participants also discussed issues related to preferential treatment policies, payment, labour relations, and the assessment of labour efficiency.
