This morning, June 2, the municipal people’s committee held a meeting on developing the city’s districts into cities in the 2021-2023 period.
Can Tho District in HCM City
The event saw the participation of the committee’s Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan and Director of the Department of Internal Affairs Huynh Thanh Nhan.
At the event, most of the delegates agreed on turning five of the four suburban districts of Can Gio, Cu Chi, Binh Chanh and Hoc Mon into cities. This will help create more favourable conditions for these four localities to attract more investment for infrastructure development.
The city will also plan to turn the rural district into a new urban district.
Earlier, HCM City also merged the eastern districts of 2, 9, and Thu Duc into one administrative unit called Thu Duc City.
