The airport will resume domestic services to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Danang, Vinh and Haiphong, operating 30-40 flights a day. AirAsia is also scheduled to resume its Dalat-Kuala Lumpur route in early September with four weekly flights.
Many hotels and resorts in Dalat rely heavily on air travellers, particularly from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The airport's temporary closure reduced visitor numbers, especially among MICE, business and international travellers, leading to lower occupancy rates and revenue.
Tourism businesses said they were launching promotional campaigns and working with airlines and travel companies to attract visitors once the airport reopens.
Industry representatives estimate occupancy at major resorts could rise by 15-20 per cent, particularly on weekdays, while stronger air links are also expected to boost spending on accommodation, dining and conference services.
The Lam Dong Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre said it would step up destination marketing, work with airlines on tourism promotion campaigns and organise roadshows and familiarisation trips to attract more visitors.
