Passengers can use the kiosks by scanning their boarding pass, chip-based national ID card and face in a three-step process.
The system automatically matches facial data with passenger information, allowing travellers to pass through security and boarding gates without repeatedly presenting documents while maintaining aviation security.

The kiosks are expected to ease pressure on traditional check-in counters, document inspection lanes and boarding gates, especially during peak hours.
Noi Bai has also expanded biometric check-in options. Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air passengers can verify their identity through the VNeID app before arriving at the airport, while Vietjet Air and Sun Phu Quoc Air passengers can check in via their airlines' apps up to 24 hours before departure.
Passengers unfamiliar with self-service technology can still receive assistance at traditional check-in counters, where staff can scan chip-based ID cards directly.
Initially, the kiosks will not be available to foreign passengers, children under 16 or those using only a VNeID account. The airport said it would continue upgrading the system to extend biometric verification to all passengers as part of its smart airport initiative.
The rollout comes as Noi Bai handles nearly 700 flights and more than 100,000 passengers a day during the summer peak, which is expected to last until mid-August. On its busiest day, the airport handled 740 flights and 120,000 passengers.
