Danang explores Hoi An-Dien Ban river tourism route

Danang City is exploring a new river tourism route linking Hoi An and Dien Ban to diversify tourism and showcase the landscape and heritage along the Thu Bon River.

The city's tourism department, relevant agencies and businesses surveyed the proposed route from Bach Dang Wharf in Hoi An to Dong Khuong tourist site in Dien Ban.

The survey assessed the feasibility of operating the route and connecting cultural attractions, craft villages, community-based tourism sites and ecological areas along the river.

Authorities examined navigation channels, wharves, vessels, waterway safety and visitor facilities at potential stops to determine infrastructure needs and possible operating arrangements.

The route would take visitors from Hoi An along the Thu Bon River to Dien Ban, offering access to rural landscapes, craft villages and local communities.

The river, central to Hoi An's history and culture, is seen as a key asset for developing new tourism experiences.

The route is also expected to spread visitors beyond established attractions, ease pressure on heavily visited areas and create more opportunities for local communities to provide tourism services.

The survey forms part of Danang's plan to develop inland waterway tourism for 2026-2030. Its findings will be used to further study the route, upgrade wharves and other infrastructure, improve safety and develop visitor services.
