Road agency proposes fast-tracking seven expressway projects

The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam has proposed accelerating investment in seven expressway projects to strengthen regional connectivity and meet growing transport demand.

Among the projects proposed for earlier construction is the Ngoc Hoi-Gia Nghia section of the western North-South Expressway, which would improve links between the Central Highlands, the Southeast and the south-central coast.

The agency also proposed accelerating the Vung Ang-Cha Lo Expressway, describing it as a strategic route connecting Cha Lo International Border Gate with Vung Ang Port and the logistics network in north-central Vietnam.

In the northwest, the Bao Ha-Lai Chau Expressway has been proposed for completion before 2030 to improve links with the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway and support regional economic development.

The proposal also calls for earlier investment in the Phu Yen-Dak Lak Expressway (Phu Yen-Buon Ho section) and the Nha Trang-Lien Khuong êpressway, which are expected to create new east-west transport corridors linking the Central Highlands with the south-central coast.

The road agency said the projects would strengthen regional connectivity, improve logistics and accommodate rising transport demand.
