In a meeting with local media before about the new social distancing rules being applied in the city from September 6, Hanoi Party Secretary Dinh Tien Dung stressed that the move aimed to better monitor residents at virus-hit areas while resuming production activities in other areas with less or no risks.
The official also suggested the Health Ministry to soon issue instructions on the activities that fully-vaccinated people can join in as this is a matter of interest among an increasing number of people amid the prolonged social distancing period.
The city is now speeding up its vaccination programme as the pandemic remains complicated in many inner districts including Dong Da, Thanh Xuan, Hoang Mai, and Ba Dinh.
Hanoi is among five localities that have been asked by the health ministry to complete providing all residents with the first jab of Covid-19 vaccine by September 15.
The capital city has so far administered 2.2 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine for 26.65 percent of its population.
Meanwhile, the southern province of Binh Duong which is currently the country's second-biggest virus epicentre has proposed to give green cards to fully-vaccinated people, yellow cards to those having received one dose while those who haven't vaccine will not be allowed to go out.
