Four more new imported Covid-19 patients reported on Wednesday

Four Vietnamese people who recently returned from Saudi Arabia and Japan have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,381, the Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday evening.

According to the ministry's report, two of the newly-confirmed patients returned from Saudi Arabia at Van Don International Airport on December 6.

The two women aged 47 and 32 were sent to a quarantine area in Ninh Binh Province upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on December 7.

They are now being treated at the Cau Yen Healthcare Centre in Hoa Lu District.

The next two patients are two men aged 25 and 26 who returned from Japan on November 28 and December 6. They were also sent to quarantine areas upon arrival and are now being treated at hospitals in Danang City and Quang Nam Province.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 687.

As of 6 pm on December 9, a total of 1,225 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, over 21,485 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
