More than 600 units of blood were collected and sent to the National Institute of Hematology. The blood will be used to provide blood transfusions and support for patients.
Doan Cong Huynh, Editor in Chief of Tien Phong newspaper, said this number surpassed their targets by about 100 units. Many people from organisations and students from Vietnam National University, Hanoi, University of Transport and Communications, Vietnam Commercial University and more registered to participate in the voluntary blood drive.
Dr. Nguyen Anh Tri, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusions, was very impressed with the number of volunteers who turned out. “The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion provides necessary blood for hospitals in Hanoi and its neighbouring provinces with over 400 units of blood everyday while we often collect about 270 units per day. The number of blood units collected today will be of great help for emergency cases at hospitals."
