Currently, a 7-kilometre stretch of beach extending from Loc Vinh Commune to Lang Co Town has been impacted by oil slicks. Local authorities have deployed teams to clean up the contamination.
Meanwhile, a large volume of waste has washed up on the beaches of Lang Co Bay, causing severe pollution.
Phan Thien Ngoc, a local shop owner, said that every year during the rainy season, large amounts of waste wash up on Lang Co's beaches. "I have to ask my staff to clean the dining area two to three times a day, but the litter just keeps coming back," Ngoc said.
The beach area in front of the delayed Mien Vien Lang Co International Resort project accumulates the most waste and is also struggling with erosion. Most waste includes plastic debris, glass bottles, styrofoam, and other lightweight materials.
Incomplete construction projects are turning the beaches at Lang Co Bay into a scene of decay and neglect.
Lang Co Bay, situated in Phu Loc District, is approximately 70 kilometres from central Hue and lies north of the Hai Van Tunnel.
Spanning 42 square kilometres with a coastline extending over 10 kilometres, Lang Co Bay boasts ideal conditions for diverse tourism activities and attracts countless visitors annually for sightseeing and leisure.
The World Bays Club (Worldbays) recognised it as one of the world's most beautiful bays in 2009.
