Recognising it as a rare wildlife species, Kha quickly contacted the authorities. This morning, February 27, the Phu Loc Forest Protection Board received the animal.
The rescued red-faced monkey weighs around one kilo and has an injury on its right leg.
The red-faced monkey is classified under Group IIB in Vietnam’s list of rare and endangered forest species, as mentioned in the government’s Decree 84. Its population has significantly declined due to habitat loss and illegal hunting.
The Phu Loc District Forest Protection Board is closely monitoring the monkey’s condition and planning to transfer it to a wildlife rescue centre for treatment before reintroducing it to the wild.
