Northern region to face intense cold snap

A strong cold spell has been forecasted to affect the northern region of Vietnam from February 23.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, starting from the night of February 23, localities will experience cold weather. Mountainous areas will face extreme cold, with temperatures ranging from 11-14 degrees Celsius, and dropping to below 7 degrees Celsius in some mountain peaks.

The low temperatures will persist throughout the day and night. The highest temperatures will be only from 15-17 degrees Celsius or even just 12 degrees Celsius in some mountainous areas.

Drizzle is expected to impact the north on February 23-24. 

Hanoi is predicted to have temperatures ranging from 14 to 19 degrees Celsius on February 23-25.
