On February 21, Dantri Newspaper, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Dak Ha District, the People’s Committee of Dak Pxi Commune, and Dak Pxi Primary School, held an inauguration ceremony for the Dantri Classrooms at the Kon Pao Ko La school site.

Fulfilling a long-awaited dream

For years, dozens of Xo Dang ethnic minority preschool and primary school students in Kon Pao Ko La, Dak Ha District, had been studying in makeshift classrooms inside an old communal house and public buildings due to a lack of proper school facilities.

To address these challenges, Dantri partnered with local authorities and school staff to raise funds for constructing two new classrooms here. The initiative was inspired by an article about the school situation published by Dantri in 2021, which mobilised VND88,519,000 in donations. However, this amount was insufficient to complete the project.

Recognising the urgent need for new classrooms, Dantri sought further contributions from readers and additional funding sources. Eventually, more than VND300 million was raised, allowing for the construction of two 100-square- metre classrooms. Many individuals and organisations also donated materials, such as bricks and sand, and volunteered labour to expedite the project.

After three months of construction, the classrooms were completed in time for the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.

The school serves students from particularly disadvantaged villages, with its facilities scattered across mountainous terrain. The Kon Pao Ko La school site, home to 263 Xo Dang ethnic minority students, had been struggling with outdated and deteriorating classrooms. The addition of two new classrooms provides a much-needed improvement, offering a clean, modern learning environment and space for IT education.

On behalf of teachers, students, and the local community, Principal Dung extended heartfelt gratitude to Dantri, its readers, and the project’s sponsors for their commitment to highland education.

"With this generous support, we pledge to dedicate ourselves fully to nurturing young minds in this challenging region. The school will manage and utilise these facilities effectively, ensuring they serve students for years to come," Dung affirmed.
