HCM City faces historic unseasonal rains

Many areas in HCM City saw more than 100mm of rainfall this morning, February 13, the highest unseasonal downpour in the past 20 years.

This morning, it rained for more than four hours in HCM City. The rainfall in Nha Be District was measured at 124.4mm, 41.4mm and 43.4mm in many other areas, including Thu Duc City and Hoc Mon District.

Many areas in the Southeastern region also experienced heavy unseasonal rainfall, including Long Thanh (Dong Nai), which received 126.6mm; Xuyen Moc (Ba Ria-Vung Tau) with 44mm; and Ben Cat (Binh Duong) with 46.2mm.

Le Dinh Quyet, head of forecasting at the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Centre, said that based on data from the past 20 years, this is the most significant unseasonal rainfall recorded in February.

HCM city experienced unseasonal rain two days ago, but the rainfall was moderate. The rains helped cool the city following the hot weather of 33-34 degrees Celsius.
