The violations were part of a wider crackdown on expressway offences carried out from May 23 to July 4.

On the morning of July 4, officers at the Than Cuu Nghia toll station in Dong Thap Province stopped a male driver operating a 16-seat passenger van. Surveillance footage showed he had used his phone for more than two minutes while driving. He was fined VND 5 million (approximately USD 191) and had four points deducted from his driving licence.

During the same period, traffic police recorded 79 cases of illegal stopping, 139 cases of parking in prohibited zones — including three emergency stops without warning signs — and four cases involving passenger vehicles picking up or dropping off passengers and goods on expressways.

An additional 118 violations were linked to unsafe overtaking, improper lane use, failure to signal when changing lanes, and unauthorised use of emergency lanes. Speeding remained the most common offence, with 1,652 cases documented.
