The ministry and the Nghe An provincial administration on February 9 handed over a new examination and treatment building at Tuong Duong Medical Centre in Tuong Duong Commune.
Construction began in late October 2025 with total investment of VND 30 billion (about USD 1.17 million). The three-storey building includes an emergency and intensive care unit on the ground floor, laboratory and diagnostic imaging facilities on the second floor, and surgery and obstetrics departments on the third.
Authorities said the centre will help meet healthcare needs for more than 80,000 ethnic minority residents in the area, support military and police forces operating along the border, and provide medical services for people from neighbouring Laos.

On the same day, the ministry also inaugurated the My Ly 2 semi-boarding ethnic primary school in My Ly Commune, after six months of construction despite repeated flooding and harsh weather.
Built to border-region standards, the school includes an administration and learning support block, functional classrooms, dormitories for students, accommodation for teachers, a canteen, and auxiliary facilities such as a car park, guardhouse, water tank and main gate.
The project was launched on August 12, 2025, after My Ly Commune was hit by a flash flood that damaged schools, medical stations, transport infrastructure and homes.

At the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security, said the projects reflected the attention of the Party, the state and the ministry to healthcare and education in remote border areas.
Pham The Tung also presented 2,000 Tet gifts from the ministry worth VND 1 billion (about USD 39,000). Nghe An provincial police and sponsoring units distributed a further 2,000 Tet gift packages valued at VND 1 billion to disadvantaged families.
The campaign to build and repair homes and schools for flood-affected residents in Nghe An Province was launched in August 2025, targeting 500 new homes for families whose houses were destroyed or swept away and repairs to 500 severely damaged homes.
So far, 227 homes and one school project have been completed and handed over ahead of schedule.
