According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on August 26 the northern region and Thanh Hoa will see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 15-30mm and isolated areas receiving heavy rain of more than 80mm.
The weather agency warned that thunderstorms could bring whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong gusts.
These dangerous weather phenomena could affect agricultural production, topple trees and damage homes, transport works and infrastructure.
Notably, intense localised downpours over a short period could trigger flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.

In the central region, on August 26-27, areas from Hue to Danang, the eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa are expected to face hot weather, with some places experiencing severe heat. Maximum temperatures will generally range from 35-37 degrees Celsius, with some places above 38 degrees Celsius, while the lowest relative humidity will generally be 45-50 per cent.
