Working with local authorities, the newspaper on February 9 presented Tet gifts in Viet Hong Commune and handed over two newly built houses to families left homeless after the storm.
Speaking at the event, Dantri's Deputy Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Xuan Toan said 2025 marked the first year Dantri recorded reader donations reaching VND 87 billion (about USD 3.41 million), reflecting growing public trust.

He added that the paper’s Tet gift programme has travelled nationwide, distributing more than VND 1 billion (about USD 39,215) in support. In Viet Hong Commune alone, Dantri provided 100 gift packages worth VND 110 million (about USD 4,313) to households hit hardest by the 2025 floods.

“Entering 2026, we hope to continue receiving support from our readers so we can build more practical projects, helping people travel more conveniently and ensuring students get to school more safely,” Toan said.
Duong Duc Huy, head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilisation Committee of the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee, said Viet Hong suffered severe damage from natural disasters in 2025, with losses far beyond what local authorities initially expected.

After contacting Dantri, he said, the province received timely support, and within three months two “spacious and sturdy” houses were completed for Ha Thi Khang and Ha Thi Hong Quyen.

Huy also recalled that after the disaster in Lang Nu Village in 2024, Dantri was among the first media outlets to arrive, providing VND 2 billion (about USD 78,431) to help residents recover, followed by continued visits and gift distributions.
Ha Thi Khang, who moved into her new home just before Tet, said she was deeply grateful to Dantri’s readers and donors.

Khang's husband died in a flash flood triggered by Typhoon Bualoi, and their previous home, built with a bank loan, was left uninhabitable, while the VND 50 million (about USD 1,960) debt remained unpaid.
“My house collapsed in the typhoon, and my husband died, making my life feel like a dead end,” she said. “Now that I have a new home, I will try to stabilise my life and develop the economy on this new land.”
The two households also received additional gifts from provincial agencies, electric kettles donated by readers, and paint sponsored by Facom Paint Group.

During the event, 100 disadvantaged households affected by the 2025 floods also received Tet gifts. Each package included VND 1 million (about USD 39.22) in cash and a Tet jam box worth VND 100,000 (about USD 3.92).
To help residents in areas affected by natural disasters have a more complete and joyful Lunar New Year or Tet reunion, Dantri Newspaper has launched a programme to present 1,000 households in flood-affected regions. Each gift package includes VND 1 million (USD 39.22) in cash and a box of cakes/jams/sweets worth VND 100,000 (USD 3.92).
