Tran Quy Duong has recently developed various health problems, including kidney failure, polyarthritis, peptic ulcer, and gout, that have made him bedridden.
Tran Quy Duong, 64, lives with his 16-year-old daughter Nguyen Thi Duyen in a dilapidated house in Thai Nguyen's Phu Luong District after divorcing his wife five years ago.
Duong had been trying to do work to earn money to cover hospital treatment for his daughter, who needs blood transfusions every month for her thalassemia.

However, the man has recently developed various health problems, including kidney failure, polyarthritis, peptic ulcer, and gout, that have made him bedridden and had to rely on his ill daughter for daily activities.
"I've been unable to continue the regular treatment for my daughter as my health problems have worsened, and I couldn't work to earn money," he said. "I'm very worried as her condition has deteriorated."

"I'm very worried when I see him getting worse," she said. "How can I live if he dies?"
The father and daughter have recently relied on the support of local authorities and neighbours for daily food.
Speaking with Dantri, the head of Ha Village, Tran Xuan Bau, said that they have tried to help Duong's family, but Duong and his daughter need more support to continue their costly treatment.
