Vietnam records 10 new imported Covid-19 patients on Thursday

Six Vietnamese citizens and four foreign people who recently arrived in Vietnam have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,531, the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday evening.

According to the ministry's report, six Vietnamese citizens including four men and two women aged between 13-63 recently returned from Dominica, Germany, and the US.

They were sent to quarantine areas in Ha Nam, Binh Duong and Phu Yen provinces upon arrival and are now being treated at local hospitals.

Two other patients are Austrian men aged 23 and 35 who flew from Austria to the United Arab Emirates and then took another flight to Hanoi on January 5.

They were sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and are being treated at the Hanoi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Another patient is a 13-year-old American boy who flew from the US to Singapore and then took another flight to Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat Airport on January 10.

He was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and is now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.

The last patient is a 32-year-old Israeli man who flew from the US to the United Arab Emirates and then took another flight to Ho Chi Minh City on January 12.

He was also sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and is now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 837.


As of 6 pm on January 14, a total of 1,369 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, 18,295 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
