By 5 pm, after around 30 minutes of rain, several sections of Pham Van Bach Street were submerged under about 0.4 metres of water. The downpour struck during the evening rush hour, with floodwater on many roads reaching halfway up vehicle wheels, making travel difficult for residents (Photo: Tien Tuan).

Nguyen Van Hoang encountered the heavy rain after work and had to walk home because of the deep flooding.
Nguyen Van Hai brought out a boat from the restaurant where he works to help ferry residents across the deeply flooded stretch.
"This area floods badly after every 30 minutes of heavy rain, so this boat is often brought out to help people, especially the elderly and children crossing the flooded section," Hai said (Photo: Hai Long).
